Since 1987, Richard Finney has created and produced many public and private commissions. He generates work that complements the specific site. Through the years Rick has developed his own artistic vocabulary, using rich images. He understands and utilizes a wide variety of materials - like wood, glass, metal, and plastics - and a range of techniques including etching, patination, casting, fabrication, and sand blasting.

Richard Finney, of Winnipeg, turned to jewellery after receiving a fine arts degree from the University of Manitoba. Finney found inspiration in religious architecture and the prairie landscape. His Church Bracelet (fig. 65) is a 15-centimeter-high sterling silver sculpture of a lonely stone church.
